Bhubaneswar, Sept 9: A special graduation ceremony for students of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS), faculty of agricultural sciences of SOA Deemed to be University, was held here on Wednesday to mark the completion of their academic journey.
The ceremony was attended by students of the B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons) 2022-26 batch and those pursuing M.Sc. (Agriculture), M.Sc. (Horticulture) and programmes across 12 other departments from the 2024-26 batch.
SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, administered the oath to the graduating students receiving their degrees. Addressing the students, he said the ceremony marked the culmination of their hard work, diligence, patience, discipline and commitment towards their studies.
Prof. Nanda said the students had received their education at a university ranked 15th in the country and urged them to carry forward the values of their alma mater. He said the graduates would now step into professional life as brand ambassadors of the university.
Prof. Santosh Kumar Rout, Dean of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences, said agriculture was no longer confined to traditional practices but had expanded into diverse areas, including food security, climate change, rural development and technological innovation.
The ceremony was also attended by Pro-Vice-Chancellors Prof. Prasanta Kumar Patra and Prof. Anup Kumar Samantaray, Controller of Examinations Prof. Manjula Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare) Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, members of the Academic Council, heads of departments and faculty members.
Prof. Saroj Kumar Mohanty delivered the welcome address.
