Bhubaneswar, Mar 27: The India Meteorological Department has issued fresh weather warnings for several districts of Odisha, predicting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hail, and gusty winds over the coming days.
An orange warning has been sounded for Mayurbhanj, Sundergarh, Keonjhar and Balasore. According to the IMD, these districts are likely to experience thunderstorms with lightning and hail, along with strong surface winds reaching speeds of 50–60 kmph at isolated places.
A yellow warning has also been issued for Gajapati and Ganjam, where thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph are very likely. Similar conditions may also prevail across several other districts, including Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Sambalpur and adjoining areas.
For March 29, the regional weather office has specifically issued an orange warning for Mayurbhanj district, forecasting thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of up to 60 kmph.
Residents have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions, as unstable weather conditions are expected to impact normal life in several parts of the state.
