Bhubaneswar, Jan 20: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has lodged a formal complaint with the Singhadwar police station against a social media account named ‘vishvrajcreation’ for allegedly sharing AI-generated images and videos of Lord Jagannath that have hurt the religious sentiments of devotees.
According to sources, the temple administration approached the police after several AI-generated visuals went viral on social media platforms. In one of the videos, a massive statue of Lord Jagannath is seen placed on a platform in front of the Srimandir, with milk being poured over it using a crane. Another video reportedly shows Lord Jagannath holding a conch and chakra, with a virtual sea created in front of the temple.
These visuals, which go against established traditions and religious practices, have triggered widespread outrage among devotees. Many have demanded immediate removal of the content from social media and strict action against those responsible for creating and circulating such videos.
Condemning the act, the SJTA stated that the content has disturbed religious harmony. The complaint was submitted by Srimandir Security Administrator Hemant Kumar Padhi, who emphasised that the visuals had deeply hurt the sentiments of Jagannath devotees. Police have begun examining the matter.
