Bhubaneswar, April 13: Droupadi Murmu will undertake her maiden visit to Rourkela on April 21, during which she will inaugurate multiple development projects worth ₹158 crore, giving a significant push to infrastructure and public amenities in the region.
Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram announced the details of the visit at a press conference in Sundargarh. As per the schedule, the President will travel from New Delhi to Jharsuguda Airport and then proceed to Rourkela by helicopter, arriving around 11:10 am. She is slated to depart at 4:00 pm the same day.
During her visit, the President will inaugurate the Integrated Command and Control Centre near Panposh Hockey Chowk, built at a cost of ₹48 crore, along with a Tribal Museum developed for ₹40 crore. She will also inaugurate the Science Park and Planetarium at BSNL Square in Chhend Colony, constructed at ₹27 crore, and dedicate a Recreational Park at Koelnagar worth ₹45 crore.
President Murmu will also address a large gathering at Sector-13 Melon Padia ground, where over 10,000 students and 35 cultural troupes are expected to participate, showcasing the region’s rich heritage.
