Bhubaneswar, April 13: The India Meteorological Department has issued a seven-day yellow warning for Odisha, forecasting rising temperatures and uncomfortable weather conditions across the state. While coastal regions are expected to experience persistent hot and humid weather, interior and western districts are likely to witness intensifying heatwave conditions in the coming days.
On April 13 and 14, hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail in coastal districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Puri, Khurdha, Nayagarh, Gajapati, and Ganjam.
From April 15, heatwave conditions are expected to begin affecting interior districts such as Balangir, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur, while coastal areas will continue to remain humid. The intensity of the heatwave is set to increase further from April 16 to April 19, gradually covering more districts including Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Nuapada, Nabarangapur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, and Mayurbhanj.
Despite the expanding heatwave in interior regions, coastal districts will continue to experience high humidity levels throughout the week. The IMD has advised people to stay indoors during peak hours, remain hydrated, and take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses as temperatures are expected to remain above normal.
