Bhubaneswar, April 8: The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange warning for severe weather activity across parts of Odisha on Thursday, cautioning residents to remain alert.
As per the forecast, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds reaching 50–60 kmph, and hail are very likely at isolated places in districts such as Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Keonjhar, particularly during afternoon and evening hours. These districts have been placed under an orange alert.
Additionally, similar weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and strong winds, are expected in parts of Cuttack along with the above districts. Meanwhile, a yellow warning has been issued for several other districts including Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati, where moderate thunderstorms and winds of 40–50 kmph are likely.
Looking ahead, on April 10 and the following day, thunderstorm activity is expected to continue mainly over northern and coastal districts. No major warnings have been issued for Day 4. However, from April 12 to 15, hot and humid conditions are likely to prevail at isolated places across the state.
