Background for a hot summer or heat wave, orange sky with with bright sun and thermometer
Bhubaneswar, Mar 13: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for heatwave conditions in Jharsuguda and Sambalpur districts of Odisha for March 14 and 15.
According to the IMD’s mid-day weather bulletin, heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places in these districts during the period. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and take necessary precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Meanwhile, the regional weather office has also forecast unstable weather conditions in parts of northern Odisha. On March 16, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds with speeds reaching up to 30–40 kmph are expected at isolated places in Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts. Both districts have been placed under a yellow alert.
The IMD further predicted that on March 17, similar thunderstorm activity with lightning and gusty winds is very likely to occur at isolated locations across several districts. These include Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Kendrapara, Khordha, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore and Bhadrak. A yellow alert has been issued for all these areas.
Additionally, on March 18, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts are again likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and winds reaching 30–40 kmph. Residents in the affected areas have been advised to stay alert and follow weather advisories issued by the authorities.
