Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: A cyclonic circulation persisting over the southeast Bay of Bengal is expected to push temperatures upward across Odisha in the coming days, even as the state braces for largely dry weather conditions.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), both maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next three days. Meteorologists have indicated that no major rainfall activity is expected, as there is currently no significant weather system influencing the state.
Despite the overall dry outlook, a few areas recorded light and scattered showers under the impact of the circulation. Baramula in Nayagarh received 5.4 mm of rainfall, while Marshaghai and Derabish in Kendrapara recorded 5 mm and 2.5 mm respectively. Digapahandi in Ganjam reported 5 mm of rain, and Jenapur in Jajpur registered 2.2 mm.
Temperature variations were noticeable across districts. Rourkela recorded 12.2°C, while G Udayagiri experienced a cooler 9.7°C. Parlakhemundi remained the hottest place in the state at 35°C.
Weather officials said dry conditions are likely to persist for the next seven days, with a gradual rise in daytime heat.
