Bhubaneswar, April 9: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday inaugurated three grid substations and eight key transmission lines at Balianta in Khordha district, significantly boosting power infrastructure in Odisha.
The projects, executed at an estimated cost of around ₹600 crore, aim to strengthen and expand the electricity transmission network in Bhubaneswar and surrounding areas. Officials said the upgraded infrastructure will enhance power reliability, reduce outages, and meet the growing energy demands of the capital region.
As part of the programme, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a high-capacity grid substation at SCB Medical College and Hospital. The new facility is expected to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to the premier healthcare institution, which serves patients from across the state.
Addressing the gathering, Majhi highlighted plans to develop Bhubaneswar as a major IT and semiconductor hub, creating new opportunities. He also noted ongoing road projects and upcoming housing developments in Balianta and Balakati areas.
Additionally, a gas-insulated substation will be established in Nayapalli at a cost of ₹120 crore, further strengthening the city’s power infrastructure.
