Bhubaneswar, Mar 10: In a significant step aimed at supporting students, the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha (CHSE) has announced that Plus II students will now be allowed to reappear in one subject to improve their marks. The new rule will come into effect from the current academic year.
According to officials, the improvement examination will be conducted within 60 days after the declaration of the Plus II results. The results of the improvement test will also be published soon after the exam so that students do not face difficulties while applying for higher education or competitive examinations.
Earlier, students were permitted to reappear only if they had failed in one subject. However, under the revised system, students who have passed but wish to improve their marks in a particular subject will get another opportunity to enhance their academic performance.
CHSE authorities said the decision was taken keeping the interests of students in mind, especially those who secure less than 75 per cent marks and face challenges while appearing for national-level entrance tests such as the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
Students who fail in any subject will not be eligible for the improvement exam. Instead, they can appear in the instant examination conducted by CHSE. The initiative is expected to help students improve their academic records and increase their chances of securing admission to reputed institutions.
