Bhubaneswar, July 8: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), Odisha, on Wednesday released the first cut-off marks for admission to Plus Two courses for the 2026-27 academic session, with Ravenshaw Higher Secondary School, Cuttack, once again emerging as the most preferred institution by securing the highest cut-off marks in the Arts, Science and Commerce streams.
According to the first merit list, the cut-off for admission to the Arts stream at Ravenshaw has been fixed at 81 per cent, while the Commerce stream has recorded a cut-off of 82.40 per cent. The Science stream registered the highest cut-off in the State at 93.40 per cent, underlining the intense competition among students aspiring to study in Odisha’s premier higher secondary institutions.
Following the publication of the first merit list, thousands of students across the State have begun checking their eligibility by comparing their marks with the prescribed cut-offs. Selected candidates are now preparing to complete the admission process at their allotted institutions.
The CHSE has advised students who have secured seats in the first round to report to their respective higher secondary schools within the stipulated timeline along with all required documents. Candidates have also been asked to complete all admission formalities without delay to avoid cancellation of their allotted seats.
Education experts believe the high cut-off marks this year reflect the growing demand for quality higher secondary education in Odisha, particularly in the Science stream, where the number of applicants continues to far exceed the available seats. The remaining phases of the admission process will be conducted based on the availability of vacant seats after the completion of the first round, giving eligible students additional opportunities to secure admission in institutions of their choice.
