Bhubaneswar, Aug 25: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across several districts of Odisha over the next few days, with some areas likely to experience intense weather conditions.
For August 26, a Yellow Warning has been issued for heavy rainfall at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Sambalpur districts. No warning has been issued for August 27.
On August 28, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj, prompting a Yellow Warning. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds reaching 30-40 kmph are also likely in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh.
An Orange Warning has been issued for August 29 for heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. A Yellow Warning for heavy rainfall is also in place for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Angul and Dhenkanal. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph may occur across these and several other districts.
On August 30, an Orange Warning has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Balasore, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. A Yellow Warning has been issued for heavy rainfall in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Subarnapur, Boudh, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are also likely across a wide area on August 30.
The weather warnings have prompted authorities and residents to remain alert, particularly in districts covered by Orange and Yellow warnings, and follow official advisories during periods of severe weather.
