Bhubaneswar, Aug 18: A book authored by 14-year-old school student Shreyashi Pattanaik, exploring the familiar habit of procrastination and its impact on everyday life, was unveiled on Independence Day by Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak, Founder President of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA).
Titled ‘Life: A Series of Procrastination’, the book offers a thoughtful and relatable perspective on the tendency to postpone tasks, decisions and even dreams. Written in a simple and reflective style, it examines the reasons behind procrastination and challenges the common perception that it is merely a result of laziness.
Through personal experiences and observations, Shreyashi explores factors such as fear, uncertainty, perfectionism and self-doubt, which often lead people to delay important decisions or put their aspirations on hold for “some other day”.
The book carries an encouraging message for students and young dreamers—that life does not have to be perfect to begin pursuing a goal and that taking the first step is often the most important part of any journey.
Shreyashi, a Class IX student of D.A.V. School, Pokhariput, is an avid reader and also has a keen interest in painting and dancing. Her curiosity about everyday experiences and observations of people and situations around her inspired her to put her thoughts into writing.
Congratulating the young author, Prof. Nayak appreciated her creativity and encouraged her to continue pursuing her literary interests. He also wished her success in her future endeavours.
Shreyashi is the daughter of Dr. Sovan Pattanaik, Associate Professor at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, SOA Deemed to be University, and Dr. Jasmin Panda, Head of Pharmacy, IMS and SUM Hospitals.
The publication at such a young age highlights Shreyashi’s creativity, imagination and confidence in expressing ideas through writing.
