Bhubaneswar, Jan 19: After enduring a prolonged spell of intense cold wave, Odisha has finally witnessed a rise in night temperatures over the last 24 hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday informed that minimum temperatures across the state are likely to increase further by 2–3°C over the next two days, bringing gradual relief to residents.
IMD officials said there was an appreciable rise in minimum temperatures by around 2–3°C at one or two places in South Interior Odisha. However, temperatures still remain significantly below normal in several regions. They are around 3–5°C below normal at a few places in South Coastal and North Odisha, and 2–3°C below normal at many locations across South Coastal, North Coastal and South Interior districts.
G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 3.2°C, slightly higher than Sunday’s 2.8°C. Semiliguda in Koraput followed at 5.7°C, while Phulbani recorded 6.8°C. Rourkela stood at 7.5°C, Jharsuguda at 8.4°C, Kirei in Sundargarh at 8.5°C, Keonjhar at 9.5°C and Angul at 9.6°C.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar recorded 11.6°C, nearly 4°C below normal, while Cuttack stood at 11.4°C, three degrees below average.
