Remote sensing and AI discussed in distinguished lecture at SOA
Bhubaneswar, Nov 22: Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, K.N. Bajaj Chair Professor and Professor of Electrical Engineering at IIT Bombay, delivered a distinguished lecture at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) University on Thursday. His talk, titled "Analysis of Remotely Sensed Images: Does AI Play Any Role?", provided a deep dive into the fundamentals of sensing, various remote sensing methods, and the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the field.
The lecture, held at the Atal Incubation Centre on the ITER campus, drew a large audience, including faculty, researchers, and students. Prof. Chaudhuri highlighted diverse application domains, challenges, and ongoing research in remote sensing. He emphasized how AI is revolutionizing image analysis for environmental monitoring, policy-making, and interdisciplinary research.
The engaging session concluded with an interactive Q&A, fostering discussions on AI's role in reshaping remote sensing. Presided over by SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, the event was attended by notable dignitaries, including ITER Director Prof. Manas Kumar Mallick and other senior academics and professionals.
