PM Narendra Modi to visit Odisha on September 17 for Subhadra Yojana launch
Bhubaneswar, Sept 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to make a one-day visit to Odisha on September 17. According to sources, he will arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at 11:35 am aboard an IAF aircraft from Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Following his arrival, Modi will head to Janata Maidan to attend the launch event for the Subhadra Yojana and other development projects, which will take place between noon and 1 pm. He is set to depart for Delhi at 1:25 pm.
This visit marks Modi's first trip to Odisha since he and other senior BJP officials attended the swearing-in ceremony of the newly formed BJP government led by Mohan Majhi in Bhubaneswar on June 12.
The Odisha government has chosen September 17, Modi's birthday, for the launch of the Subhadra Yojana, a major initiative supported by a budget exceeding ₹55,000 crore. The BJP's core committee met last month to plan the event, aiming to draw significant national and international attention.
The Subhadra Yojana will provide over 1 crore women in Odisha, aged 21 to 60, with annual assistance of ₹10,000 over the next five years. The first tranche of this support will be distributed on September 17. Beneficiaries will receive ₹5,000 each on Rakhi Purnima and International Women’s Day annually for the next five years via direct benefit transfer. The scheme will be rolled out from the 2024-25 to 2028-29 financial years, and each recipient will receive a Subhadra debit card issued by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
