PM Modi visits Bhubaneswar slum, interacts with Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana beneficiaries
Bhubaneswar, Sept 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Sabar Sahi slum in Bhubaneswar to interact with beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U).
This visit marked the final leg of his three-state tour. Upon arrival, PM Modi was warmly received at the airport before proceeding to Sabar Sahi in a heavily secured convoy. There, he engaged with hundreds of residents, especially women, who lined the route to greet him and offer birthday wishes as he turned 74.
During his visit, PM Modi was honored with traditional Anga Bastra and sandalwood paste by the locals. He enjoyed the sweet dish ‘kheer’ at one of the beneficiary’s homes and participated in a Puja for Lord Jagannath.
The interaction with PMAY-U beneficiaries lasted about 30 minutes, with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Housing & Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra also present. Later, at Janata Maidan, PM Modi launched the Subhadra Yojana, a significant social welfare initiative by the BJP government in Odisha, and laid the foundation stones for railway projects worth Rs 2,871 crore and national highway projects exceeding Rs 1,000 crore.
