Odisha’s Subhadra Yojana: 2,000 applications denied over banking errors
Bhubaneswar, Sept 18: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Wednesday announced that 2,000 applications for the Subhadra Yojana have been rejected due to discrepancies in bank account details. As of Tuesday night, there were 97,000 pending applications, but all except these 2,000 have been processed.
Parida assured that all eligible applicants who complete their submissions will receive the September 17 instalment.
The Subhadra Yojana, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a special event in Bhubaneswar's Janata Maidan on Tuesday, aims to provide financial support to women in Odisha. Under the scheme, women will receive Rs 50,000 annually for five years, from 2024-25 to 2028-29.
The first instalment of the scheme was credited to beneficiaries' bank accounts on Tuesday. With a total budget of Rs 55,825 crore for the five-year period, each recipient will get Rs 10,000 annually in two instalments: one on Raksha Bandhan and the other on International Women’s Day.
