Bhubaneswar, July 31: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Dr. Bishnu Prasad Chinara, who went missing following a landslide in Kerala.

In a post on 'X', Majhi extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Dr. Chinara and his companions, including Dr. Swadhin Panda and their spouses, were on vacation in Kerala when the landslide struck Wayanad. The Odisha government has dispatched a senior administrative officer and a doctor to Kerala to support the families of the missing and deceased doctors. These officials will liaise with the Kerala government to expedite assistance and coordinate efforts.

Chief Minister Majhi has also instructed the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) to maintain close contact with the Kerala authorities. Dr. Chinara, a resident of Choudwar, was vacationing with his wife Priyadharini Pal and friends Dr. Swadhin Panda and Swikruti Mohapatra. They had left Bengaluru on July 26 and were staying at Linara Villa in Wayanad when the landslides occurred on Monday night, affecting areas such as Meppadi, Mundakkai Town, and Chooral Mala hill.

Priyadarshini and Swikruti have been rescued and are receiving treatment, but Dr. Swadhin Panda remains unaccounted for.
