BSKY to be replaced by Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana starting September 10: Health Minister
Bhubaneswar, Aug 3: Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling announced on Saturday that the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), a widely used health scheme from the previous administration, will remain in effect until September 10. Following this date, the new Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana will take over, offering similar health benefits.
Mahaling explained that the transition to the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana will occur after the Appropriation Bill is passed in the Assembly on September 10. The implementation of the new scheme will be phased, with beneficiaries receiving new cards under the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana starting from that date.
The BSKY currently provides cashless treatment coverage of up to ₹10 lakh annually for female family members and ₹5 lakh annually for other beneficiaries. This scheme supports more than one lakh beneficiaries who receive cashless treatment at private hospitals across the state, costing the state government approximately ₹200 crore each year.
